Liquify Filter - Pt. 1
The Liquify Filter in Photoshop is similar to the Smudge Tool, however it preserves details much better. It’s a fun tool to use when you just want to goof around with a photo!

The following tutorial just shows you the basics of Liquify, and includes a few examples of what you can do with your new-found power.
Start with an image. I got mine from iStockPhoto. You will want the subject facing you.

Select Filter > Liquify. This fill open the Liquify filter.

You will probably want to zoom in. Click the magnifying glass.

Now choose the Warp Tool. This works like a normal photoshop brush - you can easily adjust the size using the [ (smaller) and ] (larger) shortcuts on your keyboard.

Decide what parts of your picture you want to warp. Here I’ve decided to make the eyes larger. Make sure the brush is larger than the area you want to affect.

Adjust other parts of your photo.

Click OK to return to your canvas. Ta-DA!

Check out the second part of this tutorial, Liquify Filter Part 2 - to learn how to bloat and pucker objects.
